Wait… Next Year Is Coming Fast

PART 2 of the I’m Tired: How Do I Finish Well? series

Now, I know your mind is on the end of the year and camping trips and quietish mornings, so why is your brain swinging right into next year?

Next year. New curriculum, maybe a weekly co-op, art supplies, or that homeschool bucket list field trip are all creeping into your headspace.  Focusing on next year’s new plans and a fresh start often feel like it might fix everything that feeling hard about this year’s conclusion.

It’s easy to go there quickly, especially when you’re tired.

But there’s something important about staying present long enough to actually finish.

This year still has something to say and her voice is loud.

Before you jump ahead, take a moment to notice:

  • What actually worked this year?

  • What drained more energy than it gave?

  • What do you want to quietly carry forward and what do you want to release?

It is not big planning sessions that will serve you well, it’s honest noticing.

Because rushing into next year before finishing this one often means we miss the lessons this year was trying to teach us.

Right now, you don’t need a perfect plan for next year.

You just need enough clarity, and energy, to finish this one well.

There’s still time. No need to fix everything, but to finish with awareness instead of rush.

Let next year wait just a little longer. This one still matters.
